NEED vs WANT

PLEASE FOCUS ON WHAT WE NEED, NOT WHAT WE WANT

What We Want:    (Long-term objectives)
 - We want to give back to the community
 - We want to help disastrous areas (i.e. tsunami in Japan)
 - We want to sponsor scholarships to Vietnamese students.
 - We want to be admired
 - We want to be great

However, right now we may be prematurely to achieve the things we are wanting. At times, the demands of the mission must wait until there is sufficient resources in place to effectively and efficiently commit to the mission. Therefore, I am asking you to focus on the things we need.

What We Need:    (Short-term objectives)
 - We need to survive our first year
 - We need man power
 - We need money
 - We need time and resources

When we named ourselves Chamber of Commerce, we already bear a great reputation. Do not worry about polishing or branding our name. When a tiger is born, it already is a mighty animal, but it needs to be grown physically and mentally to dominate the wild. The same principles are applied to GVACC, and the question here is "Can we live up to our reputation?"

Also, please remember a Chamber of Commerce is a partnership of businesses and professional people. It's not a charitable organization, if you want to do charity, we will have a 501(c)(3) later on.

Having said that, I am suggesting the following fundraising ideas:

1) We may need a regular cash cow to generate revenue for GVACC operations. I propose on the long run, we need to have a GVACC Gift Shop or GVACC Thrift Shop to sell the following items:

     - Old cell phones (donated by members or others)
     - Old books (get donated)
     - Old computers (get donated)
     - Recycled ink cartridges (get donated)
     - Old electronics (get donated)
     - Old CDs, DVDs (get donated)
     - GVACC greeting cards, Birthday cards, etc.
     - GVACC gift items

We can ask Anh Binh (HK mkt) that we could setup few tables in the parking lots to sell the above items as if it's a flea market on Saturday and Sunday.

2) A Car Wash Fundraiser:  We can ask High School students to volunteer to do car wash at Hong Kong Mkt parking on weekend for immediate money.

3) Sunday Easter April 24, 2011 Fundraiser: There are many ways to use this event to generate funds.

4) Education Fundraiser:  To ask for educational donations, the proceed will be 70% for student scholarships, and 30% goes to GVACC ops.

5) PayPal Fundraiser: To setup PayPal account, and donors all over the country could deposit a minimum $1 a month to this account.

6) Dinner with recent Vietnamese Pageant Fundraiser: We will have an auction for gentlemen to have dinner with the current Vietnamese Pageant, and we ask restaurant to donate a table for two. We could do the same for ladies to have dinner with some prominent bachelors.

Thank you for your time and efforts to setup GVACC.
